Bars, the easy way to please

Homemade Anytime Bars

12 c. oatmeal or (large 2# 10 0z / 42 oz can) QUICK or OLD FASHIONED Oats
4 c. whole wheat flour
8 eggs
3/4 c. oil
2/3 c. honey
1/2 c. molasses
2 c. milk

Optional add ins choose one to change it up!

1 large can solid pack pumpkin
3 to 4 mashed bananas
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1-2 c. grated zucchini (great use for these...shred in summer and freeze)

To make variety, you can divide the mixture in half BEFORE you put the optional add ins in the mixture (half of the amount listed above), then use 2 different add ins!!!

Preheat oven to 325. Spray 2 cookie sheets (with sides)
Dump oats and flour into a VERY large bowl and mix.
Beat eggs in medium bowl then add remaining ingredients.
Pour wet ingredients into large bowl with oats and flour
Mix this whole mess together (I use my hands)
Pat onto greased cookie sheets & bake at 325 for 1 hour.
After 1 hour turn oven off, crack oven door & allow cookies to cool in oven.

My puppies like a little extra special treat of a peanut butter icing.  While still SLIGHTLY warm, I spread a small amount of peanut over the bars before cutting.

Cut into whatever size you want. I use a pizza cutter to hasten the task.

These freeze really well and should be kept refrigerated. *  Since the recipe makes such a large quantity, it is nice to freeze several Ziploc Bags of them, use these to fill in when you do not have time to bake a fresh treats.

According to the size you cut the bars will depend on how many you get.

TIP: measure oil in measuring cups THEN use for honey and molasses.  This will keep them from sticking

*Because of the moist add ins, these will mold if left out of the refrigerator
